About us.

We are the Long Family – Mike, Heidi, Cecelia, and Maddie. Mike retired from the Air Force in 2022 after a 26-year career in Maintenance and Logistics. His Air Force career taught him empathy, to always strive for excellence with integrity, and that individuals can never be as effective as a cohesive team.

We moved to North Pole Alaska in 2020, and Mike knew that he wanted to start his own business after the military. We were able to purchase a home with a detached shop and zoning which allows for business operations.

Stickleback Laser Designs was formed in April 2023.

What’s a Stickleback? Heidi has a PhD in Fish Biology. During Grad School she studied fascinating little fish called the Three-Spine Stickleback living in the glacial waters of Alaska. Using Stickleback in the name reminds us that everything we do is a team effort.
